2010 is now (my sentimental blog post of the month)

"When I get older I will be stronger
They’ll call me freedom
Just like a wavin’ flag"

I watched the first game in Trafalgar Square, London where South Africa scored the first goal of the world cup. The moment was like nothing else I have experienced. The hush of the all 2000 South Africans who gathered there to support their team was defining as the shooter (who's name escapes me) ran towards the goal and as he scored the crowed interrupted around me before I even realized that we scored a fucking goal! My friend Dylan was with me and his eyes were almost watering with pride as he picked me up and screamed ''I cant believe it!!''

Even though Bafana is out, the pride in this country remains strong. The world has come to us! The world has come to us for one of the biggest sporting events on the planet and we are capable of pulling it off! This is a special time for us, our country has an air of excitement, activity and hope with the sounds of vuvuzellas filling the air.

South Africa, our time is now, 2010 is here!
